[22 Jan 09] Squash (F) EH vs TH: 3-2 WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Jing Wen!

Yellow hearts and Eusoffian voices sang in unison this night, as they cheered as one for the IHG Squash Girls in this close-fought final. The opponent was none other than our next-door neighbor in white, whom we lost to in the early stages last IHG. With tensions running higher than usual, the pressure was on Captain Yuru, to once again stun us with her amazing intuition regarding lineup. Eusoff squash girls’ knew they stood a chance, and would certainly not back down without a fight! With the home crowd hitting record numbers (for a squash match anyway), the atmosphere was almost electrifying as our brave squash players battled it out one after the other, hoping to secure a GOLD for Eusoff. …And they did! It did not matter that Temasek had a top-seed IVP player or a club player and strong badminton members. It did not matter that the mood was almost tangible with hopes and tension. It did not matter that 2 of the players had to rush down from their IVP match, battling fatigue to bring glory to Eusoff. (With Redbull, fatigue is nothing!) All that mattered was that the girls ran their hearts out; and that the supporters cheered their voices hoarse; and that Eusoff emerged – as CHAMPION!

[20 Jan 09] Squash (F) EH vs KE7: We are through to the Finals!

Eusoff Squash Girls are now through to the Finals, which will be held this coming Thursday, 22 Jan, 8.30pm @ SRC Squash Courts.

Eusoffians, do come down to support the squash girls in their fight for glory for Eusoff against our very respected opponents Temasek from next door!

[18 Jan 09] Squash (M) EH vs RH: 2-3

On a bright and very sunny Sunday, Eusoff Squash Guys team trudged onto the squash courts as one, in hope of making it through to the semi-finals. A new system dictated that qualifying to the semi-final round is no longer through table style (ie, where the teams are ranked according to the number of wins, losses and draws); instead ranking would be done according to the number of total sets won in the preliminary round. Having started slow (losing 0-5 to TH), Eusoff now needed to defeat Raffles Hall by at least 4 – 1 to make it through to the semi-finals. Conversely, it meant that even if Eusoff beat RH by 3-2, RH would make it through instead of EH. This ridiculous system surely affected our chances and morale, although there were brilliant shows of tenacity and fervor at many points during the evening. Much drama ensued in the squash courts as well, with slips and falls, rallies and kills.
