And so here we were, after an arduous journey, in the soccer finals. Being part of the soccer team myself, I knew how much the guys wanted it, many of whom were playing their last ever IHG for Eusoff Hall. Not only was winning the gold medal for soccer this year worth so much more to those who would be leaving us soon, but it would also be contributing to Eusoff Hall winning the overall guys champion as well as the overall champion hall for IHG since our arch rivals, Temasek Hall, were right on our heels in the title race. Soccer, being the penultimate sport for IHG, is also the sport in which the gold medal has eluded us for at least 8 years, according to the seniors, with Eusoff losing out to Temasek last IHG.

The temperamental evening downpour brought about a cool, chilly night – the perfect setting for the nail-biting Badminton Girls’ finals that brought chills down the spine of the spectators. With Sze Sze back in the squad, our Eusoff shuttlers were more than ready to take on Temasek. The last time we met up with our friendly neighbours in the preliminary stages, the line up had not been very favourable, giving EH a 35-65 chance. But this time, the finals (and the gold) was up for grabs, with a 50-50 that could go either way. Amidst the barrage of din and clatter from the blue and orange noise-machines in the court next door, our badminton girls ran, jumped, smashed and yielded their best to bring glory to Eusoff.
