The temperamental evening downpour brought about a cool, chilly night – the perfect setting for the nail-biting Badminton Girls’ finals that brought chills down the spine of the spectators. With Sze Sze back in the squad, our Eusoff shuttlers were more than ready to take on Temasek. The last time we met up with our friendly neighbours in the preliminary stages, the line up had not been very favourable, giving EH a 35-65 chance. But this time, the finals (and the gold) was up for grabs, with a 50-50 that could go either way. Amidst the barrage of din and clatter from the blue and orange noise-machines in the court next door, our badminton girls ran, jumped, smashed and yielded their best to bring glory to Eusoff.

As our girls were fighting it out with KE7 in the next court, our Eusoff badminton boys were faced an uphill battle in their court as well. Whilst the Eusoff girls had a relatively easy semi-finals against KE7 (almost as if a practice session before taking on TH for finals), the guys had a much more difficult obstacle - KR. With several top-seeded IVP players and experienced players, KR was no easy piece of cake. Eusoff had their own star players too, which made the fight a “50-50 chance” (quoting Captain Peizhou). In the end, it all boiled down to the lineup and which way it would turn out. Amidst deafening cheers and drumbeats from the KR side, as well as equally glass-breaking decibels from the Yellow supporters, this reporter brings you the exciting rallies and heartbreaking game-plays of the night!

Sporting their smart-looking white polo attire proudly adorned with a Eusoff crest, our Badminton girls stepped into the hall today and swept KE7 off their feet. Despite having lost to TH last week in the preliminary stage, our badminton girls, led by captain Mayyin, were raring to get into the finals and take on TH again. After all, now we have our squad at full strength (Sze Sze’s back!) and surely TH won’t get so lucky again with the lineup. But, before we could take on the not-so-neighborly challenge with TH, we had to sweep KE7 out of the way - which we did, of course.
