Floorball
Brief Introduction of Floorball
Floorball is a territorial game played in an indoor rink, with plastic boards that mark out the boundaries of the rink.
Each team has 5 field players and 1 goalkeeper, and the objective is to score as many goals as possible within the playing time – usually 3 periods of 15 or 20 minutes each. The sport is played with plastic sticks and a hollow plastic ball with holes. Players are allowed to stop the ball with any part of the body except the head, and body contact is frequent as well. Floorball is an intense sport, involving all players in both defense and attack, hence lines (a group of 5 players = 1 line; each team usually has at least 2 lines) are changed every 2 minutes.
Basic floorball rules include no high stick and no sticking the stick between the opponent’s legs to get the ball.

*Drumroll please* - For Eusoff’s very own Sportswoman of the Year from the 07/08 season! We are humbled to have Guan Jingwen on board as her presence in so many sports will certainly give you unprecedented coverage of our fellow sportsmen pursuits this coming IHG. Here’s an exhaustive (we hope) list of the IHG sports she will feature in this year (with reasons):
Floorball – because Aisyah, my friend, is in it
(Note: Jingwen’s actually NUS’s very own Floorball IVP vice-captain so does Eusoff have a choice in excluding her? No!)
Squash – because it’s fun trying to outsmart your opponent.
Soccer – because life is about feeling like an awkward idiot trying to pretend you’re nimble on your feet.
Softball – because that feeling of a solid whack is just inexplicable.
Badminton – because that was my first sport ever, and nostalgia counts for a lot.
Touch Rugby – because this is the game that defies usual sports logic.
Track – because I loved that we beat Temasek last year in IHG thanks to track
“Is she done yet?” We know - what an amazing list. For guys (and girls) who would like to know such a versatile lady, please make sure you are a sportsman who play the simple, beautiful game (not just trying to be macho and run around aimlessly or hit as hard as you can you know?), be a Manchester United fan (she’s one) or try to be like a Swedish Floorball player.
