Eusoff Line-up: David, Ian, Chris Kang, Darren, Renji, Encik (Jia Rui), Royston Toh (Daniel Yeow), Lionel, Wilson, Joseph, Raihan
Having already created mini-history somewhat by defeating KE7 and reaching this final (hence breaking the semis shootout curse), EH looked forward to taking their campaign up onto another level by winning our first IHG soccer gold since god-knows-when. We had certainly proven ourselves good enough with a fantastic run of results on the back of some impressive football dished out by a most star-studded line-up in ages. Pundits have promoted us from darkhorses to favourites for this final, given the surprise demise of previous contender KR, and anything less than a perfect end to this season would have been disappointing.

The evening sun was still stubbornly hanging around in the corner of the late afternoon sky as both our guys and gals, proudly clad in specific Hall singlets and choice running shorts, gathered at the SRC carpark. The Road Relay has always had a special place in IHG, not least because it is a direct competition of frightening wills and contest pure physical finesse. It hardly qualifies as a ‘Game’ but is more a brutal punishment of mind and muscle – it does not get any more raw than this. While your usual casual canter in twilight may help distress you from the toil of school and troubles of the heart, this scenic route belies the pressure cooker situation not meant for the meek or weak-hearted. The roll call of legends in this blue-riband event pays testament to the spectacle and significance of the sport, whose nominal occurrence at the tail end of IHG means the placing of each hall, today, could enormously impact the overall standings.
