About EusoffWorks

EusoffWorks is the media services wing of Eusoff Hall providing semi-professional media services to the residents and committees of Eusoff Hall. The committee consists of the Core Admin Team, 5 Specialization Wings and 4 Media Support Wings. EusoffWorks is one of the best media committee amongst the hall of residents with its high level of production standards as well as management systems.

Although termed as a "technical" committee, EusoffWorks strives to be a "people orientated" committee. Built on a culture of change, learning and excellence, EusoffWorks invests heavily in the development and nurturing of leadership, administrative, media, creative and technical talents. People are EusoffWorks most important assets and the secret to its success.

Brief History

Sadly, EusoffWorks' organizational memory only extends till AY2005/06, when our now alumni Ng Huan Jin joined the committee of 20 people as a freshmen. During that time, EusoffWorks was charged with only video coverage and video editing. Even though a freshmen, Huan Jin edited a large majority of the videos produced by the committee.

In AY2006/07, Huan Jin became the Head of EusoffWorks and started to reform EusoffWorks. Still with only 20 members, the committee did not have the manpower or equipment neccesary to support the hall through video. He introduced Photography to EusoffWorks and managed to secure a budget to replace broken equipment as well as to augment EusoffWorks' inventory. He also laid the administrative, financial, and operational foundations neccessary for the committee to operate. Placing an emphasis on skills and leadership development, EusoffWorks became respectable people orientated committee.

When AY2007/08 arrived, Joshua Ng suceeded Huan Jin as Head of EusoffWorks. Building on the foundations laid in the previous year, they continued to refine the financial, administrative and operational aspects of EusoffWorks. Standard Operating Procedures was introduced as a means to formalise working procedures and EusoffWorks continued to develop as a people-centric organization, producing numerous good media productions as well as talents.

AY2008/09 was an important year for EusoffWorks. The committee underwent a restructring and two new media services were added - Design and Digital Media Management. Computer Committee also mergered with EusoffWorks, forming the IT Wing. In addition to this, the Media Support Wing system was introduced in order to better serve some of the hall's major committees and activites such as the Dance Production, Dinner and Dance, Sports Management Committee as well as Eusoff's Cultural scene.

This year, AY2009/10, Chee Eng took over as head of EusoffWorks. With more than one hundered members, EusoffWorks continues to strive to serve the hall better while enriching the lives of our members.

Tan Chee Eng

Director of EusoffWorks

Chee Eng is a third year student studying Computer Engineering in the School of Computing. He was previously the Design and IT Director of EusoffWorks as well as the Technology Director of Start-Up@Singapore, a national business plan competition. Being someone who enjoys music, he has been a guitarist for Ten Minutes Late (one of the hall acoustic bands) since his freshman year. He has found, especially in hall, a good place to hone his skills, technical or otherwise. He enjoys satire, geeky comics, latte during lunch, as well as television shows and can sometimes be seen watching Stargate or Heroes with his friends.


Joshua Ng

Senior Advisor of EusoffWorks

Joshua (joshuatj) is a 4th Year Engineering Science student specializing in Bio-Imaging & Optics. After 3 years of faithfully being actively involved in EusoffWorks, he is currently the Senior Advisor of EusoffWorks. He always attribute EusoffWorks as the main reason in his obtaining a fully sponsored Internship with NUS Hollywood Lab in REMAP University of California, Los Angeles. Joshua loves rhythmic music and has been a drummer for 11 years, he plays for Eusoff Hall Band. Above all, Joshua loves archives and history. He is most passionate capturing memories by utilising videography and photography and has managed to consolidate a substantial archive library of resources for Eusoff Hall going back to 2001. The Eusoff Archives and the Heritage Corner are under his care. His favourite past time is Science-fiction and he is most excited in themes such as time-travel, parallel universes and alternate reality. He also prides himself with his intensive mental-acrobatics.

Chan Yong Xin

Senior Advisor of EusoffWorks

Passion. Energy. Heart.

yongxin believes great results will stem from these core values. He is now in his 3rd year in NUS, studying Mechanical Engineering. This year, he is involved in building a prototype fuel cell vehicle (NUS ECOCar Prototype Team) to compete in next year’s Shell Eco Marathon Asia in Sepang’s F1 Circuit, Malaysia. Yongxin has been involved in the media scene for two years now, specializing in Video Production and as well as Photography. Having produced a number of videos for Eusoff Hall and other organizations, he wishes to diversify his interest in producing heart-warming/thought-provoking videos (the likes of Royston Tan and the late Yasmin Ahmad) and exploring HDR imagery. An aspiring entrepreneur, yongxin believes in leading a disciplined life to push oneself’s beyond any limiting beliefs and capabilities to achieve one’s ambitions. He advocates a healthy lifestyle and continuous self-learning and improvement because first, change has to come from within to impact the world.


Sheila Koh

Administrative Director of EusoffWorks

Sheila Koh is a second-year Electrical Engineering student in the Faculty of Engineering. As the Administrative Director of EusoffWorks she oversees the financial as well as operational aspects of EusoffWorks, drawing from her experience last year as a member of the EusoffWorks Administrative team. After trying out drama last year, she is now exploring music and singing through the Eusoff Choir. During her free time, she swoons over her current lastest gadget. She also enjoys video games and hopes that one day she will have a PS3.


Kanakarajh Raman

Director of Video Productions

Kanakarajh Raman is a sophomore in Physics and minoring in Nanoscience. It’s not necessary to pronounce his whole name, calling him "Kana" will suffice. Currently he is the Director of Video Production, EusoffWorks. His focus in video this year will be mainly in producing inspirational, music and documentary style videos. He is also exploring computer graphic based videos. Creativity and the desire for continuous improvements are what he expects to see in the video members. Although never a good athlete, he enjoys endurance sports like long distance running and cycling. He is against unnecessary use and exploitation of animals and environment, so he embraced veganism a few years back. Besides religion and history, he also has a taste for futuristic science ideas like space colonization, molecular electronics, and nanorobots.


Wellens Tan

Director of Photography

Wellens is a third year student majoring in Mechanical Engineering in NUS. Currently, he is still the Director of Photography of EusoffWorks. In Senior Middle 1, he joined the photography society after an unexpected acquaintance sparked his interest in photography. Since then, in less than a year, he has evolved from someone who did not even know how to load a film into a camera into an amateur who speaks in exposure, color and composition. He enjoys night, sports, floral and nature photography. Also a member of the Rag team, he believes the degree and quality accomplishment is reflected in your effort and the Laws of Conservation and Reaction. Among the things he is famous for is his single and double facepalm as well as his bulging eyes. He also has a mild interest in anime and music, especially romance genre such as Key's AIR, Kanon and Clannad as well as the Ef series.


Carolyn Koay Phaik Imm

Director of Information Technology

Carolyn is a second year student majoring in Materials Science and Engineering in NUS. Her mission when she first joined EusoffWorks was to be a computer geek, and she is reaching there soon, if not already. Currently leading the next batch of potential geeks, her next mission is to make sure they fall in love with computers, web development, programming, servers and networks. One of her task is to teach them IT’s language of love: HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, Linux. Besides, she also likes to minor in other specialization like photo, video and design. In her first year, she actively participated in several other hall activities, including Drama, EVC and Rag. She is also the Vice Head of Rag 10/11, aiming to push Eusoff Hall to even greater heights. Occasionally, you will find her to be another wilder person known as Catherine. Don’t be freaked out by this somewhat split personality. It is still Carolyn who just wants to loose her usual serious self and go crazy!


An Peng Xiang

Director of Design

Peng Xiang is a sophomore studying Real Estate. Being surrounded by architecture students in SDE, he is sometimes mistaken for an archi student. One of his hopes is to get his tablet laptop some friends who are also touchy.


Yeong Hui Jing

Director of Digital Media Management

Hui Jing is a sophomore pursuing Chemical Engineering major in NUS. She was previously a member of Finance Committee and also the Administrator for Rag Team 09/10. She is known for her quiet and demure nature. "Retracing the past, enriching the present" is her set principle as the Director of Digital Media Management this year, working to preserve the hall's heritage. After going through Rag, which was a journey of learning and self-discovery, she is now more adaptive - ready to face any challenges to achieve her goals.


Leong Pei Theng

Director of Media Support Wing (Performing Arts)

Pei Theng is a 2nd year Physics major studying in the Faculty of Science, NUS. Besides being a video member in EusoffWorks, she is also an alto in Eusoff Choir and was the Wardrobe Head of Eusoff Hall Rag Team 09/10. Her nickname can always be heard in ‘mamak’ stalls where customers order "Teh Peng". However, her Big Boss in EusoffWorks calls her "Iced Tea" instead. She has been playing volleyball since primary school and also enjoys other physical activities like climbing, skating and cycling once in a while. Having been a tutor for a few years, she continues pursuing her passion in teaching as a demonstrator in the Science Demo Lab, spending her extra time with school children. In her free time, she indulges in desserts while chit-chatting with her friends.


Timothy Gan Yew Peng

Director of Media Support Wing (Inter-Hall Games)

Timothy Gan is a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student who really enjoys the company around him. Before taking the post as the Directory of the Inter-Hall Games Media Support Wing, he was previously the SMC logistics vice head. Through his new position, he hopes to bring Eusoff sportsmanship to a greater heights. He is also currently the chair for Eusoff Varsity Christian Fellowship and a guitarist for Asteria, one of the Eusoff Bands.


Ban Kar Yi

Director of Media Support Wing (Dance Production)

Kar Yi, more commonly known as Ah Ban, is a sophomore studying Mechanical Engineering. She was previously the Vice Head of DP Sets, and carries her DP experiences with her to lead the Eusoffworks DP MSW team this year. She also likes to try new things and is currently learning Hindi in addition to being part of the Eusoff Choir. Best known for her panda emoticons and Super Mario mushroom t-shirt, she also directs a more or less covert, underground, but growing movement in EusoffWorks. Besides that, having survived a server crash, her luck has brought her a 400K high score in Bejeweled Blitz recently.


Daniel Kor

Director of Media Support Wing (Dinner and Dance)

Daniel is a 2nd year student studying E-commerce in the School of Computing. In 2008, he was a video member in the D&D Media Support Wing. Having shown good performance and potential, he has now moved up to become the Director of the D&D Media Support Wing. All your D&D tasks are belongs to him. He is also proficient in Adobe After Effects and has integrated it into many of his video projects. During his free time, he plays tennis for IFG and IHG. He also enjoys playing and downloading computer games. He also plays Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook and has recently earned a 150k Star Medal.


Vivian Wong

Committee Secretary

Vivian Wong loves listening to music, singing, and delicious food. She is now in her first year studying Arts and is enthusiastically seeking new experiences. She is now the secretary of EusoffWorks in which she hopes to learn video editing and photography as well. Vivian is also proud to be in the NUS Chinese Debate Team. As a former debater during her school days, she hopes to learn more and improve herself in the coming debate competition. She aspires to venture into the field of journalism, media, and mass communication, and to further pursue her dream of becoming a show host. Vivian believes that as long as there are passion and care, we will make it. An attitude which is aptly needed in Eusoff Rag 10/11 in which she will be mainly in-charge of administration. She is also an active member of yElloH-Subs (Eusoff Drama Com) and a Eusoff Dinner and Dance Programmer.


Cheryl Leong

Committee Treasurer

Cheryl Leong is a student from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and is planning to major in Ecomonics. Besides EusoffWorks, she is also a member of Eusoff Voluntary Corps, Drama, Dineer & Dance, as well as Expeditions. She is loving and caring girl, hoping to help the kids in cambodia, making that her main purpose for joining expedition. Since coming to NUS, she seldom sleeps and finds herself awake till early in the morning. During her free time, she enjoys chit-chatting with her friends and also watching drama. She is also a very big fan of the late Michael Jackson and loves spending time collecting all his posters and DVD albums. She is a happy go lucky type and hopes that someday she can fulfill all her wishes and hopes.


Soo Huey Fen

Senior Administrative Advisor

Huey Fen is a final year life science student at the National University of Singapore. She was previously the Administrative Director of EusoffWorks as well as a proud member of the Eusoff Hall Rag and Chingay team. Huey Fen's aptitude of handling administration-related matters was discovered since her first year in Eusoff Hall when she was the Administrator of EusoffWorks. She is well-renowned for her systematic management and organizational skills. Out of work and school, Huey Fen likes to go shopping with friends and amuse herself in front of the chocolates outlets. However, she spends most of her days with lab reports and projects, and of course, munching chocolates.
