We went in. We wowed the crowds. We basically made them go ga-ga. There has never been a float so beautifully carved, so immaculate sculptured and so impressively vibrant from the ground of Eusoff. There was never a more solid float produced. It was our ace in the hole. This year, all along, we were going all out to win.
Our story was simple yet passionate; cute yet addressed complexity. On the other hand, Eusoff choreography is a legend in itself. Nothing could be clearer.
When Wayne, our Rag head, said "We are going to sweep all of the awards this year," his seriousness was evidently displayed through the Christmas Reverie, our flagship float this year.
We were full of confidence. We were full of praise. Even our contenders gave compliments, a mutual sign of respect for each other's hard work and effort.
We stormed the SRC to do one thing. Win.
We put in our best and charmed everyone. When it was over, we thought it was in our hands. That did not mean we were ignorant about the capabilities of other halls. We were just confident about our strength and believed in our wholeheartedly effort.
The results were announced. We lost. Completely.
Not a single award. Not even a minor award. Nothing. The Chancellor Shield was out of the question.
We were, in short, truly disappointed. There were no words for it. There is nothing much left to be said. The results were final. We accept what is on the paper. But let us not forget the journey we have taken, the friends we have made, the tears we have shed, the bonds we have formed, the meaning we have created for it and the core purpose of Rag Day. That is what the true spirit of Rag is.
For one thing, we know why we are Eusoffians; we will bounce back and come back stronger than ever before because that is the essence of our spirit, the Eusoff spirit.
Well done, Rag Team – We are proud of you!
