. Remembering Eusoff College - Lunch at Evans Lodge (former Eusoff College at Evans Road)

Two of our Eusoffian Alumni, Mrs Tan Suan Imm and Ms Lim Bee Lum are organising a lunch at Evans Lodge (the former Eusoff College at Evans Road) for all residents of the former Eusoff College from 11 am to 2 pm. Apart from lunch, guests can also walk about the old college grounds to reminisce about their great memories of life in the college. This event is free for all Eusoff College residents.

Memories of Eusoff

I have only fond memories of Eusoff College which remains so much a part of my life to this day . We were treated like princesses and didn’t quite know it then .
We were served four meals a day . We had a laundry service ; and even our rooms were cleaned for us . With all mundane chores taken care off , we had only to study , research , play , and pamper ourselves .
Prof. Ruth Wong ,our Mistress of E.C., was an elegant lady of style and substance . She treated us with respect . That must certainly have helped us to develop into respectable and responsible people . One useful advice she gave us regarding our expectation of others was ” The standard you set prompts the standard returned to you” . This has become my maxim in life and it has helped me to get along with others .
I like the exchange dinners with the other Halls of Residence , where some girls got to meet some boys , and went on to form lasting relationships .The beauty of E.C. is also in its proximity to the lecture halls and the library . The walk up to college and the library is so pleasant and so convenient . What I treasure most about university and E.C. life then was the friendship and friendliness all around us . Everybody was helpful and understanding. There was no sense of rivalry between us . Each one just did her best to excel . We enjoyed a more relaxed world where there were opportunities for everybody . Today’s world must be more competitive and consequently more successful .

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF EUSOFF!
Year 2008 marks an important milestone for Eusoff ever since its foundation half a century ago as we are celebrating 50 years of Eusoff! To commemorate this significant phase for Eusoff, we are planning various celebratory events throughout the year.

To commemorate our 50th Anniversary, the Hall will be constructing a time capsule to seal our 50 years of history to be buried sometime in August 2008 for our future generations to unveil in twenty or thirty years from now.
The Hall is looking for memorabilia belonging to Eusoffians of the past and present to be put in the time capsule. Three to five most interesting Eusoff memorabilia will be selected and placed inside the 50th Anniversary Time Capsule. If you have something that could best represent your times with Eusoff, please let us know.

Dear Eusoffians!
Year 2008 is an important year for Eusoff as it marks the 50th Anniversary of Eusoff. To commemorate this significant phase for Eusoff, various celebratory events had been planned throughout the year. To kick off this joyous occasion, we are organising a 50th Anniversary Pre-Celebration Carnival on Tuesday, 18 December 2007 @ 7 pm at the Eusoff Multipurpose Court. We would like to invite you to join us at the Carnival and participate in the following activities that the student committee has lined up for the evening.
1. Performances by Eusoff Performing Groups and Alumnus
Other than good food, there are also great performances by our very own Choir, Dance Corp and Eusoff Band. In addition, one of our alumni, the Eusoff Cultural Medallion Winner 2006/07, Mr Mahawaduge Nipuna Niranjan Perera aka Nips will be giving us a guest performance with his band.
2. Photo Exhibition
A photo exhibition will be put up by our Eusoffworks Committee where photographs from various years and various committees will be showcased. Do come and take a look at the old photos and reminisce your memorable times in Eusoff with your Hall buddies, while enjoying the food and great performance.
3. Time Capsule
To commemorate our 50th Anniversary, the Hall will be constructing a time capsule to seal our 50 years of history to be buried sometime in August 2008 for our future generations to unveil in twenty or thirty years from now.
